So, everybody "knows" has "bad ", right?

Turns out this "knowledge" can lead to wrong conclusions. My old X121e with RTL8188CE (b/g/n on only 2.4GHz) never could do better than 802.11g since running FreeBSD, although docs kind of implied 802.11n support for quite a while, so I thought ok, this driver just doesn't get it right.

Oh well, suddenly solved yesterday after installing the latest Wifi controller software and AP firmware 🙄🙈

On the article making the rounds, I wonder what level of “how hard could wifi be” they are on:

1. We make wifi lets use google home consumer mesh
2. Access points are expensive, let’s buy less and crank up the power to 200 dBm
3. The architect says we have to mount the APs on the 100ft vaulted ceiling ceiling to be pretty
4. No we can’t get directional antennas they cost too much, integrated omnis are fiiiiiine
5. Cisco/Aruba bug

I’m betting 3 or 4, because the key phrase is “phones as hotspots”. If the air was overutilized then mobile hotspot would probably suck too

Anybody have more technical details?

LOL, burglars are now using Wi-Fi jammers in Los Angeles to disable people's entire security setup.

Recently, the Wilshire area has been subjected to various residential burglaries, involving 3-4 suspecs using WEFi jammers as they ente victims' residences. The Wi-Fijammers are used o interrupt the infernet Wi-Fi capabilties for burglar alarms and cameras. These burglary suspects are known to enter via 2" story balconies and seek high end jewelry, purses, US Currency, and other fine valuables. They tend to ransack and target primary bedrooms. On many occasions these suspects will have a getaway vehicle and driver to act as alook out. The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking your help to deter such burglaries. What you can do: «

My was working fine with the app. Then I tried switching to mode (putting in SSID and wifi password) (because I wanted to make sure / test that the MQTT options would work - thinking that a WiFi connection would make any internet traffic better) but that makes the settings menu all greyed out so I cannot set it back to bluetooth only, nor switch off wifi… crumbs… ?

@gyptazy I tried to migrate home network to until I traveled to : the guest and my mobile operator were stuck on . I cannot connect to my home server through (IPv6 only).
Then I re-enabled dual stack when I came back home 😅
My issue was not caused by a Finnish issue, except about WiFi connection. The root cause is that mobile operator provides only IPv4 on roaming.

Faster than ever: Wi-Fi 7 standard arrives zdnet.com/home-and-office/netw by @sjvn

OK, maybe 7 networks won’t get to 5.8Gbps. but 4Gbps seems likely. Fast enough for you?
