gyptazy.ch is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.
This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.
I worked with @vanhoefm again on this report on a new #WiFi #vulnerability that’s due to a flaw in the standard itself and affects all clients on all platforms under the right conditions https://www.top10vpn.com/research/wifi-vulnerability-ssid/ #cybersecurity
Friend has #meshtastic #cli on #RaspberryPi which does not want to control node via #bluetooth nor #wifi. Any ideas what issue might be? Cheers.
So, everybody "knows" #FreeBSD has "bad #WiFi", right?
Turns out this "knowledge" can lead to wrong conclusions. My old #Lenovo X121e with RTL8188CE (b/g/n on only 2.4GHz) never could do better than 802.11g since running FreeBSD, although docs kind of implied 802.11n support for quite a while, so I thought ok, this driver just doesn't get it right.
Oh well, suddenly solved yesterday after installing the latest Wifi controller software and AP firmware 🙄🙈

On the article making the rounds, I wonder what level of “how hard could wifi be” they are on:
1. We make wifi lets use google home consumer mesh
2. Access points are expensive, let’s buy less and crank up the power to 200 dBm
3. The architect says we have to mount the APs on the 100ft vaulted ceiling ceiling to be pretty
4. No we can’t get directional antennas they cost too much, integrated omnis are fiiiiiine
5. Cisco/Aruba bug
I’m betting 3 or 4, because the key phrase is “phones as hotspots”. If the air was overutilized then mobile hotspot would probably suck too
LOL, burglars are now using Wi-Fi jammers in Los Angeles to disable people's entire security setup. #wifi #jamming #burglary #crime #cybersecurity
My #Tdeck was working fine with the #meshtastic app. Then I tried switching to #WiFi mode (putting in SSID and wifi password) (because I wanted to make sure / test that the MQTT options would work - thinking that a WiFi connection would make any internet traffic better) but that makes the settings menu all greyed out so I cannot set it back to bluetooth only, nor switch off wifi… crumbs…#bricked ?
mwx(4), another new wi-fi driver, added to -current https://www.undeadly.org/cgi?action=article;sid=20240223122439 #openbsd #wifi #mwx #networking #current #7.5beta #75beta
Any device recommendation if I just need OLSRv2 and WPA3 on #OpenWRT? 🤔
@gyptazy I tried to migrate home network to #IPv6 until I traveled to #Finland : the #WiFi guest and my mobile operator were stuck on #IPv4. I cannot connect to my home server through #WireGuard (IPv6 only).
Then I re-enabled dual stack when I came back home 😅
My issue was not caused by a Finnish issue, except about WiFi connection. The root cause is that mobile operator provides only IPv4 on roaming.

interesting article by @matuzalem :
Cron job for when devd fails to renew wifibox0 IP, so that connection is re-established after waking from sleep.
Came across a terminal-based network security tool today! 🕵️♂️🔒

Faster than ever: Wi-Fi 7 standard arrives https://zdnet.com/home-and-office/networking/faster-than-ever-wi-fi-7-standard-arrives/ by @sjvn
OK, maybe #WiFi 7 networks won’t get to 5.8Gbps. but 4Gbps seems likely. Fast enough for you?
