Hey / admins, do you rely on and/or for automation and «infra as code» ?
I’m thinking about investing some time in one of those. any FreeBSD related prior art would help :)
is fun and makes you a great person!

Tomorrow twelve (!) years ago I began liking pull, and to date I still explain what it is in my Ansible trainings.

I know of several companies that use it.

After going through , puppet, and then a hand-built shellscript I’m back to ansible as the least-bad option for my personal infrastructure. Still not a fan of yaml, though.

Next task is , though I can’t tell yet whether it’s going to be impractical for a server that’s intentionally closer to a pet than cattle.

Cool things on my plate today:

☑ get a large hetzner server and
☑ Install our companies env on it
☑ install our teams product
☐ see if I can install using compaines ansibles
☐ see if I can connect our product to that clickhouse
☐ fix whatever is not working
☐ document whatever is working

☑ upload & publish a book review
☐ open an PR for a change I've done for coreutils on openbsd
☑ have fun

Not bad :D The product installation led to some documentation fixes. And the coreutils PR will take longer. I have to expand my utmp-classic module a bit more.

@mms github.com/charliemaiors/freeb -- there are a few plays with tasks related to automatically updating bare metal and . Haven't tested these yet, but they look promising. This kind of infrastructure management is necessary for managing at scale. and salt stack might be good alternatives if you don't . See also : docs.ansible.com/ansible/lates

It was more about moving my personal projects on my own instance instead of using GitHub. On the other hand, I think most ones will find on GitHub than anywhere else.
